Choctaw Electric Cooperative, Inc (CEC) was incorporated June 8, 1940, after a small group of rural Choctaw County residents gathered in Hugo, Oklahoma in May of the same year to discuss rural electrification. The group was compelled to come together following the creation of Rural Electrification Administration (REA) just a few years earlier by the federal government. REA opened the door for newly formed cooperatives to bring electricity to areas overlooked by for-profit electric companies. Once CEC was officially incorporated, the founders set out to find enough applicants who wanted electric service to warrant a federal loan for the initial electrification project. On November 10, 1941, electricity began flowing for the first time to CEC customers.

Take a train ride on a 1/3 size replica of the C.P.Huntington S.P. train through beautiful Beavers Bend State Park game reserve. The train runs 2 times per hour and the ride usually takes 15-20 minutes. Riders will sometimes spot some native wildlife, go up and down Wahoo Hill and run through through the train tunnel before pulling back into the station….don’t forget your camera.
Guided trail rides are offered starting at the top of each hour. The ride will take you through 2 1/2 miles of scenic Beavers Bend State Park Game Reserve. Expect to see some of the native wildlife such as white tail deer, squirrel, fox, etc. The ride lasts approximately 45 minutes but please allow at least an hour to complete the ride.
After you have completed your rides, come by and check out our snack bar and gift shop. We have novelty gifts such as train caps and T-shirts and feature: Blue Bell hand dipped Ice Cream, Snow-Balls, Large soft Pretzels, Nachos, Pizza, Cotton Candy, and mouth watering Funnel Cakes, along with other food items and drinks.

Beavers Bend Brewery has been the longtime dream of Brad Reesing who has been making beer in his kitchen for over 20 years. In 2013, Brad began full production and distribution of beer to local McCurtain County restaurants.
April 15, 2016 Brad’s dream expanded to include a taproom in the booming tourist area of Hochatown, near Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park. Now visitors can come in, enjoy pints of beer on the patio overlooking the Hochatown strip, which includes Girls Gone Wine, Grateful Head and Blue Rooster.
